She turned quickly, almost sliding off of the rock as she did so. Hazel eyes widening in surprise, one part of her mind told her to flee, and the other part told her she wasn’t in danger.

Catching her breath, she looked over the girl.

“I am sorry, I did not know someone was here.”

She panicked when she almost slid off – I jinxed it, I jinxed her! – but relaxed when she didn’t. “It’s okay, I was just curious where the singing was coming from. Who are you..?”

Perched atop a rock, the dark haired mermaid was singing softly to herself. The tip of her tail fin skimmed the surface of the cerulean water as she twirled a lock of her hair.

“There is nothing can console me, but my jolly sailor bold,” she sang quietly, eyes fixed on the expanse of the ocean before her.

It was the voice that drew her near, piqued her curiosity and made her peer around a corner, her eyes landing upon the figure on the rock. It made her a little concerned – was it safe?

“—-Miss?”
